Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Japan Gursel Ismayilzada participated in the Annual Meeting of Japan-Azerbaijan Inter-parliamentary Friendship League

On April 19, 2016 Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Japan Gursel Ismayilzada participated in the Annual Meeting of Japan-Azerbaijan Inter-parliamentary Friendship League. Parliamentarians Kenji Kosaka, Yoshio Mochizuki, Akihiro Ohata, Shinkun Haku, Masahiro Imamura, Ichiro Aisawa, as well as officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan participated in the meeting. 

Ambassador Gursel Ismayilzada delivered a speech on the current situation in the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Ambassador talked about the recent tension in the frontline  and stressed that Armenian armed forces targeting civil objects and civilians densely residing in the territories adjacent to the frontline area continue its provocative actions. Ambassador emphasized that the conflict can only be solved within the framework of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. Besides Ambassador Ismayilzada also focused on the economic development of Azerbaijan in the recent years, economic priorities, regional projects initiated by Azerbaijan and promotion of non-oil industries. Bilateral relations with Japan were also in the agenda of the meeting. Ambassador emphasized increase in the mutual high level visits, and expressed hope for continuation of such visits to boost further cooperation. 

Japanese parliamentarians shared significant concern over the recent tension in the frontline and expressed their wish for the soonest peaceful resolution of the conflict. Parliamentarians emphasized the importance of expanding Japan-Azerbaijan political, economic and cultural cooperation.
