Productive meeting was held with H.E. Mr. Minoru Kiuchi, Japan’s Minister of State for Economic Security and Fiscal Policy.

On 19 February 2026, a meeting was held between Farid Talibov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Japan, and Mr. Minoru Kiuchi, Japan’s Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy.

During the meeting, Ambassador Talibov congratulated the Minister on his recent appointment and informed him about the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku in May 2026, as well as the World Sumo Championships, which will be hosted in Azerbaijan for the first time in autumn this year.

The sides discussed the development of Azerbaijan–Japan relations, cooperation in energy and green growth, transport and logistics along the Middle Corridor, trade, investment, and tourism, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the reconstruction and restoration efforts in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur.
